    Local Postgraduate Program

    Who is this program for?
    • Professionals looking for a solid base for practice in today’s world
    • Curious professionals interested in investigating the influence of the extended family on the people they see and in their own lives
    • Practitioners seeking to aid individuals’ ability to learn about and take responsibility for themselves

    What does the program offer?
  • Assistance dealing with the complex challenging situations professionals face in today’s clinical climate
  • A coherent comprehensive theory that applies to all problems focusing on the background processes underneath all symptoms. Without a theory, technique exists in a vacuum
  • A challenge to develop your own thinking about therapy and the helping relationship
  • The international center of expertise in Bowen family systems theory with 30 years experience training professionals

    What is the program format?
  • Program meets two hours every other week
  • Didactic portion: Either a faculty presentation and discussion, or a reading seminar on althernate weeks
  • Supervision in a group format—two hours every other week—addressing
    • professional practice
    • trainees own family
    • work systems
    • theoretical questions
  • Videotapes from an extensive collection including Bowen lectures and interviews and composite tapes of clinical work

    Admission Requirements

  • Have a masters degree or higher in an area of professional practice, such as social work, nursing, counseling, pastoral counseling, psychiatry, psychology, business consulting or ministry
  • Have an area of professional practice where the trainee will apply theory
  • Request application forms and submit them by July 1, 2007. Application Form
  • Enclose application fee of $35.00
  • Applicant will be contacted by the program coordinator for an admissions interview when a completed application and fee is received

    Snow Policy
    When it snows, if the Federal Government is open, the program will be held. If the Federal Government is on liberal leave, the program will be held. If the Federal Government is closed, the program will not be held.
